Oh my lovely India ! Oh my lovely India, !
Time and again you are beset by some storm;
But your strong will comes to repel its force,
And you manage to emerge in your pristine form.

For centuries umpteen castes, faiths and creeds,
Have flourished within your affectionate arms;
Like siblings, they have often bitterly fought ,
But nothing has spoiled your face and its charms.

Many a time you have witnessed bloody streets,
But, for your foes, you always stand like a rock;
They desired to see you in a fragmented shape,
But you mocked at them and gave them a shock.

Oh my lovely Indians! Oh my lovely Indians !
Make Ayodhya verdict an enviable history;
Show to the world your unshakable resolve;
Send out a firm message ' Our unity is a mystery'.

Tell them boldly, the dispute of temple and mosque,
Can not tear your unity, and impede the march ahead;
Make those who are wishing to see you in strife,
Despaired , dejected , disappointed and morally dead.

( The above poem was written in September, 2010 on the eve of Babri Masjid verdict, and is now dedicated to the communally shattered nation)
