San Francisco bay area, CA -- (multiple sites)

6+ Months Contract

 

Job Description: 12yrs experience required.

 

At least 12-year experience in Cisco network products and HP Openview.

• The Consultant will be responsible for administration of the HP OpenView that will monitor all components and services of the NOC. 
• Consultant will insure changes to applications, databases, network, servers, routers are added to the OpenView. 
• The OpenView Consultant is responsible for accurate reporting of status of the monitored components of NOC. 
• Work with technical areas to define OpenView monitoring criteria for each component of the NOC. 
• Insure that OpenView component monitoring is working correctly and if a problem is detected, take action to correct it. 
• Insure the accuracy of reports being issued from the OpenView System. When new components, or services are added to NOC, the OpenView Consultant has to insure that current probes can handle the changes, if not, new probes must be ordered and implemented. 
• This position needs to understand service level requirements and translate into OpenView commands to set up monitoring parameters.
• Needs to be able to comprehend technical documentation on software, hardware and network products used in NOC.
• Needs to verbally present procedures, features, and uses of the OpenView system.
• Has to clearly document monitoring procedures for the components of NOC. 
• Knowledge of enterprise Network Management Systems (i.e. HP OpenView), knowledge of Command Center Operations. 
• MS Windows operating system, MS office, Microsoft Networking, TCP/IP, Relational database knowledge (SQL Server, Oracle, etc) Microsoft IIS.
• Reporting Availability of systems and services.

 

Responsibilities:
Design Propose infrastructure monitoring and performance solutions for ongoing development of organizational systems needs for development and production environments
Serve as SME on projects that require System Monitoring infrastructure

 Configuration:

 Configure Monitoring System, upgrades, testing, executing performance test. This includes configuring HP OpenView and related modules.

• Assist in Server Configuration
• Assist in Oracle Database configuration
• Scripting for configuration automation
• Documenting configuration process.
• Testing/Monitoring/Troubleshooting
• Monitor active systems performance on system KPI
• Provide reports and status on system performance
• Provide recommendations to resolve system bottlenecks
• Provide solutions for system issues
