Municipality closes 247 restaurants in Riyadh

Riyadh municipality launched a campaign to investigate restaurants in the capital city under the guidance and follow-up of his Excellency the Secretary of Riyadh Region, Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al Miqbel .
The campaign was launched to ensure that restaurants in the city conform to the specifications of health and safety regulations, food provided to the customers is safe for consumption and health violations are prevented.
By the third day of this campaign, the municipality closed 247 restaurants in various regions of Riyadh and confiscated large amounts of food that was not fit for human consumption, Arabic daily Sabq reported.
Riyadh Municipality also arrested street vendors; confiscated their wares, seized some vendor vehicles and fined their owners.
