From the time of Adam, there is only one religion i.e. Islam. Islam mean submission, surrendur to Allah Almighty. the religion of all previous messenger and prophets AS was Islam. after those messsengers and prophets, there followers changed the true teachings of Islam, then it was not remain Islam due to man made changes. now the last prophet and book has been sent for the guidence of human being which is pure and its teachings are saved. so this last version is the only religion accepted by ALLAH ALMIGHTY.  Allah never left HIS most beloved creation unguided vs Ibless.
only conscience is not enough for truth and right path. human being need true guidence whiah only Allah Almighty can provid. what do u thing about the conscience of Hitler, Gangas khan, Nero etc????? Guide line is essential from our creature who knows about us much better than us.
