Survey by UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of Indigenous Peoples
The Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples, James Anaya, requests information and comments relevant to his study on extractive industries, through the following interactive web site: http://unsr.jamesanaya.info/study-extractives/index.php/en. On the website, indigenous peoples, governments, business enterprises, or others interested my submit information on specific cases, or add information about cases already submitted. Participants may also present comments on the Special Rapporteur's reports related to extractive industries from 2012, 2011 and 2010. The Special Rapporteur, in accordance with his mandate, is conducting a study on extractive and energy industries in and near indigenous territories in order to analyze their impacts on indigenous peoples and related human rights issues, as well as to identify good practices that avoid or overcome those issues. The final report on the study, which will be presented to the Human Rights Council in 2013, will discuss the applicable human rights principles and include a series of recommendations. Information and comments can be submitted until 1 April 2013. You need to register to input, at http://unsr.jamesanaya.info/study-extractives/index.php/en/reg/registers.
